Summer 2007

Dear Readers,

Sometimes I feel my journey is in a Dodge ’Em car. Remember those at carnivals. I think I just get unstuck and Bamm! I’m blocked in a corner again. But God is good, and somehow in the jumble mess of life, I’ve met five of my deadlines right on time with only one more to go a few months from now.

After dealing with my third knee replacement and the death my stepdaughter Brenda, we’re pulling ourselves back into our active lives with handbells, handchimes, singing and traveling, along with the writing as well.

In November, I visited a long time friend in Ajijic, Mexico which is near Guadalajara. We had a wonderful time. In April, my husband and I enjoyed a Royal Caribbean Cruise to St. Martin, St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados where we enjoyed wonderful sites, met lovely people, and had an upgraded suite with tons of room. We enjoyed it so much.

This year following the Christian Booksellers Show in Atlanta and a writers retreat that I will attend, my husband and I will make a trip to Savannah to visit an old high school friend and her husband. I’ve never been to Savannah and I know July is a dumb time to go – but I’m going anyway.

Finally in October, we are visiting Athens, Greece to visit with a fellow author, see the magnificent sights so filled with history and then cruise on the Mediterranean Sea to many of the Greek Isles, as well as Turkey – Istanbul and Ephesus where St. Paul spent time. We are truly looking forward to that trip.

I hope you look for In His Dreams, Love Inspired August release and And Baby Makes Five, from Barbour’s Heartsong Presents in October. I am very excited by the release of my first book on writing from Writers Digest, Writing The Christian Romance, a December release.

I enjoy hearing from you and welcome your emails and letters. Without readers, authors write only for themselves, and I would much rather share my stories with you. It’s a joy to hear that they have in some small way made a difference in your life. Thank you.

Blessings,

                                                        Gail

With Christmas In His Heart: Thank you for a lovely book. My sixteen year old daughter loves to read and finding quality books that a teenager would like to read can be difficult, especially when it involves romance. She truly enjoyed the book. What made it even better was the fact that God has His hand in love and you brought that to life or her. Thanks for being a part of her Christian training.

From mother of a 16 year old

Loving Feelings: I wanted to say thank you so much. You’ve truly touched my life. I’ve spent too long crying and too little time concentrating on God. So many things spoke to me through the book: everything about simply putting your faith in Him and letting Him sort things out because He knows best.

From a 15 year old reader

Loving Feelings: Normal when I read books in which God or faith is mentioned I get nervous and shut the book never to open it again. It always bothers me that people seem to "shut off" their ability for sensible thinking and ration, just to go on faith, in which nothing is sure. But when I read your book, Loving Feelings, I could live with the idea that these people had faith in their lives; they had little east to on at times. The people in your book were real life people, dealing with everyday things but with their faith always present in between the wrinkles of life and scripture always somewhere in the back of their heads. I just wanted to let you know how your story influenced me in a positive way.

–From an agnostic in Belgium

Loving Feelings - You have no clue how much your book did for me. It is quite a long story on my part, but your book helped me, quivering faith due to so many things going wrong within the past five years. Our daughter, recently was told she has breast cancer. . . Is it not odd that after five weeks, I chose the book on her surgery day, that dealt with the exact problem that our family is dealing with? I believe we were meant to read your work. To me your books are not "just a story" but a true, God-given help in our time of deep-water troubles right now. She had also felt that she would be cut up and ugly, but ah, she is gorgeous inside. All I want to do is say Thank You. You have given us hope in a time that is very hard to go through.

From a mother in Indiana

I love your books. I can't put them down and if I start one in the morning I have finished reading it by bedtime. Thank you for your Christian messages and romantic stories.

I really love your Books on Mackinac Island and look forward to reading the finished story. I have been reading all your books through Steeple Hill and Heartsong Presents. Keep on writing inspirationally. There are too few who do. I am an avid reader of all inspirational books.

I have only had the pleasure of reading four or five of your books. My favorite was "A Love for Safekeeping". The mystery behind it was what made the book for me. It is probably the best or one of the best I've read from the Love Inspired Collection. Considering I read around 90 or more, that's saying something.

I love your writings . I especially liked " Upon a Midnight Clear". I have been reading Love Inspired books about 7 years & Heartsong presents since the beginning. So I believe I've read most of your books. Keep writing, so many good things from God's word in them.

Dear Gail Gaymer Martin, I just wanted to say how much your books mean to me. They are wonderful and very inspiring. I rank you as one of my all time favorite authors. happy January!

My first experience with your work was reading Upon A Midnight Clear and I’ve been a huge fan every since. You’re a top quality writer and you are among my favorites, such as Karen Kingsbury, Robin Lee Hatcher, Tracie Peterson, Francine Rivers, and Gayle Roper. In case you don’t know, that is a high compliment. Linda from Florida

I had to write to let you know how much Upon A Midnight Clear meant to me. The first time I read the book I cried, but I was also angry. What happened to Callie is real life for so many women. I was raped when I was 18 and 20. Reader - email

I read your book The Christmas Kite a few months ago. My daughter was born in May with Down Syndrome. I just wanted to say thank your for writing that book and giving me insight into the new journey I was beginning. Renee - email

Just a note to let you know how much I enjoyed Out On A Limb. It also got me thinking about helping the women’s shelter in any way I can. Reader- email

Over Her Head is a thoroughly entertaining book with a wonderful message. Thank you so much for sharing your writing talent with readers. Ellen - email

What a special blessing to receive your books. I read The Harvest over the weekend. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayers and petition with thanksgiving present your request to God." Thank you. Thank you. Danni

I just finished reading your story, "An Open Door." [In From Italy With Love ] Thank you so much. It was a wonderful story. I enjoyed it very much!! In many ways I can relate to Steffi Rosetti. I grew up without ever meeting my father also. I am still in the process of learning to trust others and learning how much joy can come from opening up to others and letting them in to share our lives. Thank you again for the story!!! You are an amazing writer!!!! I’m 14 years old and I just love your book Michigan. You write with such feeling and emotions that you feel like you’re right there with them and that it’s happening to you. Your book has helped me get over some things that I haven’t been able to let go before!!! Thank you so much!

I would just like to take the opportunity to thank you for writing your book Loving Ways. I have not enjoyed reading a fictional novel like this for a long time. Your book has truly been a blessing for me. The characters in your book were a reflection of the people and situations in my life. I was able to actually step back and begin to look at my own situation based on several things that I read in your book. So once again, "GOD BLESS YOU for writing Loving Ways. Alice - Mississippi

I just finished Home for Christmas. I HAD to email you. I looked you up on the Internet. Your novella, along with the three others, has inspired me on a spiritual journey that I have needed......Thank you in more ways than you know. I feel I am at a major crossroads, thanks to your book. I have spent years in counseling....and struggled in prayer and spiritual agony for years. I now feel the journey has just now begun and with a roadmap. Thanks so much. EG - email

Just finished reading "An Open Door" in the novella From Italy with Love. I cried, I chuckled, I loved having God centered messages in a book! Thanks for all your work. Kitty - email
