WHAT THE WIND PICKED UP (A collection of unique short stories) During the summer of 2004, the novelists' group known as ChiLibris (Chi--Greek for Christ, Libris--Latin for book) met in Atlanta. During a discussion someone mentioned that beginning writers are often reluctant to share their work because they’re afraid someone will steal their idea. That's a common fear so many new writers have. But since that day we've learned that the idea isn’t always the most important thing—how an author expresses the idea is what matters.    So ChiLibris decided to undertake an experiment—we would offer our group several particular building blocks and observe how different writers used them to build distinctly different stories.  Jeff Gerke (aka Jefferson Scott), provided our common elements: ** Each writer’s story had to begin with this unspectacular first line: The wind was picking up.
