Biltmore Estates
The 250 room Vanderbilt mansion was built by 33-year old
George Vanderbilt
and opened in 1895 featuring 34 family and guest bedrooms, 43 bathrooms,
65 fireplaces, three kitchens,
bowling alley and indoor swimming pool.
The mansion was surrounded by a 100,000 acre forest, 250-acre wooded park, five
pleasure gardens and 30 miles of macadamized roadways.
